What Teachers Tell Us About Their Experience with Video Coaching (Part 1 of 2)

A little over a year ago, we started a new blog series called Teacher Voices.

Our goal with Teacher Voices was to connect with the folks using Edthena in their classrooms. We wanted to hear, first-hand, about the different ways people implement video coaching into their PD routines.

It has been an incredibly rewarding experience. We’ve spoken with a number of inspiring teachers, like Anissa Asbill, an elementary school teacher in Richmond, CA.

“I thought it would be something that required a lot of time on my part,” Anissa said. “But that’s actually the opposite of what it was.”

“It’s powerful to be able to learn from yourself. I’m excited to see how much more I can grow, moving forward.”

Josh Law, a middle school teacher in Denver, CO, spoke about how he uses Edthena with his teacher coach.

“It’s been really advantageous for me. You can go into deeper conversations about your practice. And when my coach and I get together for our monthly meetings, it’s really easy to review my videos and a take a look at my opportunity for growth.”

Marlon Galdamez, a third grade teacher also based in Richmond, CA, described how Edthena enables him to better give back to his community. The school he teaches at is the same school he attended when he, himself, was in elementary school.

“I love working in this community,” Marlon said. “I’ve seen it at its highs, and I’ve seen it at its lows. I feel very fortunate for the opportunity.”

If you’re a teacher who’s interested in participating in Teacher Voices, let us know. We’d love to learn more about how you’re using Edthena.
